30 | Arthur and Isabella BURTON.JPG I believe this may be Arthur BURTON's portrait taken with his sister Isabella BURTON on the occasion of his 21st birthday. I also wondered if it wasn't his wedding photo with Lily Annie COX. However, the back of the Card reads: "By Special Appointment to His Excellency Sir W. C. F. Robinson K.C.M.G." Robinson was Governor of South Australia from 19 February 1883 to 5 March 1889 and was promoted to G.C.M.G. in May 1887. Arthur was 21 in 1884 and was married to Lily in 1890. Hence the thinking that this is his 21st photo. In addition, comparison of the woman with later photos, whilst always difficult, suggests it was Isabella rather than Lily. | ||
